2005-12-18 Treadmill Run

Forgot to log two workouts earlier this week. I did one treadmill run and one bike trainer session. The treadmill run was 4x[1'/9' walk/6.5mph], the bike trainer was one hour at an average speed of only 15.7mph.

Tonight's workout was payback for last night, when I skipped dinner then grazed on yummy party-food (and drank way too much wine) at a party with MB. 5 minute warmup, then 4x[1'/9'] at [6.5, 7.0, 7.5, 8.0] mph. No HRM, but I suspect it was about average for the speeds I was moving. Stretch session after.

2005-12-11 Swim/Core

2x[100 fins, 500 free], 100 breast. Pool B was being closed for a party, and pool A was still occupied by the YMCA youth swim team. So I had to quit after 1300 yards. 15 minute stretch session, 15 core session after the swim.

2005-12-08 Treadmill Run

Managed a quick treadmill run this morning, while I was waiting for my sister to get out of bed. 40 minutes, 4x1'/9'. Mix of speeds and inclines. Not a good workout at all. Not sure if the cause was it being a morning workout, or that I hadn't had food for 14 hours before the workout, or maybe it was the EIGHT POUNDS I've gained in the last few weeks :-). Every fall my body goes into "must... put... on... fat... for... winter" mode, which is perfectly natural, but this year it has been really bad. When I left NC, I was lighter and leaner than I had been since high school. The transition to cold weather and a tougher food environment (free snacks at work, time pressures, no good fruit suppliers, etc.) have allowed me to fall off the wagon a bit. I had planned to put on 10 pounds during the offseason, but I've effectively used up that entire 10 pound budget aleady. Still, I'm 7 pounds lighter than my targeted RACE weight for 2005, so I can't complain. If I can hold at/below 170 lbs. until the end of january, I should be well set for whatever I decide to do with my 2006 season. I will have a 23 pounds head start on where I was at the start of 2005 :).

2005-12-05 (Off)

[Off Sunday/Monday for my grandfather's funeral, and I probably won't be doing too much this week because my sister is visiting at the casa.]

2005-12-03 Run

I forgot to log my last two workouts... a treadmill run and a bike trainer session. Neither one was very interesting, though.

Today's run was a repeat of the weekend run I did a while ago. 4x[1' walk, 9' run]. up to market street, then east. Got to 27th street at the end of the first 10 minutes, 12th street at the end of the second. Exact same pace on the way back. HRM says I hit 150 max, but I don't know when that would have happened... it was sitting in the low 140's every time I looked at it. 4.5ish miles (I made it past 12th street by 100 yards or so last time, but this time I just turned around before crossing 12th).

My core never really warmed up, and my hands/nose were FREEZING by the time I got home. Nothing like losing 30 pounds of body fat and training thru a North Carolina summer to make a person forget how cold PA is in the winter :). I absolutely love cold weather, but I hate *BEING* cold.
